"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me
because the Lord has anointed me to preach the Good News to the
poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim
freedom for the captives and to proclaim the year of the Lord's
favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who
mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a
crown of beauty instead ashes the oil of gladness instead of
mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord
for the display of His Splendor." Isaiah 61: 1-3
The division of Operation Tarshish called
For Those Who Mourn in Zion (FTWMZ) consists of three distinct
bodies, the first to help the victims of terror and Israeli
soldiers, the second to assist widows and orphans, and the third to
counsel those suffering emotionally and psychologically. The third
group also includes Marital Counseling.
VICTIMS OF TERROR
Terror attacks leave broken families,
pain and suffering, loss of limbs and damaged lives. FTWMZ is there
to assist in whatever need may arise in the lives of these victims
of Terror. We are also active in helping and encouraging Israeli
soldiers.

WIDOWS AND ORPHANS
Terrorist attacks leave many orphans
and widows in their wake. FTWMZ is there to assist and bless
bereaved widows and orphans here in the Land.

 As
a psychiatric doctor, my wife's work brings her in contact
with those who are suffering and hurting. One day a work
college came to her in tears, saying her friends had just
been killed in a terrorist attack.
Her friends had just learned that
they were going to have twins, after undergoing an
ultra-sound at a medical clinic. As they walked from the
clinic, they came face to face with a terrorist who
detonated the bomb he was carrying. Their death left two
girls, age 3 and 7, at home without the love and support of
their parents.
Operation Tarshish was able to visit
these girls and bring comfort and
 assistance
at this traumatic time in their young lives. They were being
looked after by their aunt and uncle, who we were able to
help because of the assistance of our supporters. And now
God has given this loving aunt and uncle children of their
own.
Here in the land of Israel, terrorism
is producing widows and orphans at an alarming rate.
However, your loving support enables Operation Tarshish to
bring a little comfort in these times of distress.
James 1:27 tells us to "look
after orphans and widows in their distress,... "
and with your support we are able to do this together.

COUNSELING
Marital counseling and counseling of
individuals is another outreach of FTWMZ. Countless Israelis are
suffering as a result of terror attacks, in their marriages or
family situations and in everyday life here in the land of Israel.
You can help us fulfill Isaiah 61:1-3 as we comfort His people 5,
preach the Good news and bring the Spirit of God into the lives of
Israelis. |
